Affiliate Marketing - Establishing Your Affiliate Website

The field of affiliate marketing is a lucrative one, but you won't get very far if you don't have a website. No website, no affiliate marketing business. Now, don't panic, you can make a straight forward and simple website. It does not need to be loaded with fancy graphics or text, in fact simpler is better. Here are some useful tips to help you get your own affiliate website up and running:

First things first

1. Purchase a Domain Name. If you are going to have a website you need to buy your domain name or URL from one of the name registrar providers. and are two reliable sources. Just remember, when purchasing the domain name, try to choose a name that contains the main keywords that relate to what your website will be about.

2. Purchase Hosting. Next you need to pay for hosting service. This is basically an offsite location that stores your website content on their servers for a certain price each month. SuperGreen Hosting and HostGator are two great hosting companies.

Website Design

This is where it gets a bit tricky. Your website can make you or break you. A great website is critical to your success as an affiliate marketer. Well-designed websites don't only bring you business, but they bring it to you faster. That said, the thought of creating or building your own website can be a scary one. It can be a daunting, confusing and overwhelming task. Here are some tips to help ease the process:

• Hire a Designer If you have a little money to spare, hire a designer to handle your website for you. Tell them to keep it clean and simple. There are many freelance sites like Elance where you can find someone to help you for a fee.

• Use a Free Template You don't have to pay anyone to design your website if you don't want to. Use a free website template. It is easy to find these free templates by doing a simple search for them. There are others who offer templates for a reasonable fee too. Just browse around and find what you like. Once you have your template, add your personal content and then get it loaded to your server.

• Build It Yourself Another option is to build your website yourself. There are many programs and applications out there to help you do this, things like Dreamweaver by Adobe and Microsoft Expression. CoffeeCup software also offers a great HTML editor and most all companies offer free trials of their software these days.

• K.I.S.S. - Keep It Simple Stupid Simple and easy to navigate designs are highly effective. Arriving at your website is like having a new customer open the doors to your business and walk you're your store or lobby for the first time. First impressions are important. Your website must look professional. Don't overload it heavy graphics and flashy banners. Try to use light colors. Headers should be simple and straight forward, clearly stating what each webpage is about. Site navigation must be simple and easy. People should not have difficulty searching for a specific page or information. If they can't find what they are looking for easily or think your website to too flashy and cluttered or hard to navigate, they will leave and not come back.

The quality of your affiliate website plays a key role in your success as an affiliate marketer. The overall look and feel of your website should be attractive and clear so that visitors to your site know exactly what it's about and how to navigate it while here. Keeping these things in mind will help your keep your customers coming back and make your affiliate business grow.

The Advantage of Using PHP and MySQL

The Advantage of Using PHP and MySQL

One of the first choices to make when planning a new web site is if it should be static or dynamic. Static web sites show the same content to each visitor. Of course there can be more than one page on the site, but the content is fixed. On dynamic web sites the content can change. Visitors can interact with it. For example it might be possible for them to leave a comment for other visitors to see. In general a dynamic web site offers much more possibilities. But if you only want to give a short presentation of yourself or a company, the static solution might be the answer. However in most other cases the dynamic web page is the way to go.

Static pages consists of HTML files generated locally on your PC and then uploaded to the web server. This can be done in dedicated programs like Adope Dreamweaver, Microsoft Expression Web or Coffeecup HTML Editor. If a change is to be made the files are changed on the PC and then uploaded to the server again.

To create dynamic web pages you need to use a script. That means the web server reads and "translates" the file instead of just sending it as it is to the web browser. PHP is a commonly used script language. Almost all web hosting provides have it even in the entry level packages.

Example of PHP:

Echo "Hello world!";

The above example shows the text Hello world! PHP and HTML can easily be mixed in one file. Start and end tags shows the server what is PHP and HTML. In the same way as HTML files PHP files can be created in any editor that can save files as plain text. The example don't really show the real strength of PHP. What makes it well suited for dynamic web pages is the ability to connect to a database. This gives the possibility to store and receive information. This can be used for a wide variety of information such as user names, comment, article texts and so on. This also means you can add information to your web page from any computer with Internet access.

A popular database is MySQL. Both PHP and MySQL are Open Source software and there and many resources for support available.

But even if you don't want to learn how to program PHP and SQL, it is still possible to reap the benefits of this strong combination. There are many projects that develop scripts you can use for free on your own web page. WordPress is a blogging software. Once it is set up and running it is very easy to add new posts to your page. Another solution is to get a CMS (Content Management System) like Joomla. The script files comes with instructions on how to install them, so it can be done with a minimum of knowledge of PHP. Some web hosts has even made it more easy. They offer an installation script, where you only have to provide a few lines of information, the system takes care of the rest. You can also get other solutions like Forums or bulletin boards programmed in PHP and ready to run.

PHP and MySQL is also a very scalable solution. From a private web page or blog hosted on a cheap hosting provider up to really big social networks. For example is Facebook based on PHP and MySQL.

Make My Own Website - Starting on the Right Foot
Where do I start to make my own website?

Making your own website isn't as complicated as you might think. It could soon be up and running without forcing you to frantically learn a complicated jargon of computer codes!

There are 2 options. Creating a website can be a very simple task or it can involve mastering and applying difficult computer languages, then writing the raw HTML codes from scratch. I am going to assume that you are choosing the easy option and don't want to spend time learning a long list of complex HTML computer codes.

Essentially there are two things you must have to build a website:

1) Domain Name

A domain name is simply the name you will choose to identify your website. It is also known as a "web address" or "URL". For example It is therefore important when choosing your Domain name that you select a relevant keyword that people will use to search for your site. Ideally your domain should be a reflection of your site, its products or services. For an annual fee paid to a registrar, you get the exclusive right to use your chosen domain name.

2) Web Host

The next step is to get an online presence. This is provided by a web host. It is basically a company that has extremely powerful computers connected permanently to the internet. For a monthly fee, the web host will rent you out a small amount of online server space to host your web site. Once your website is placed on their server, internet users worldwide will be able to access your site.

Web Building Tools

Once you have acquired your domain name and web host, the next step is to design the web site. Although there are many considerations during the process of designing your website, as a beginner, you must concentrate on getting "an online presence". The precise adjustments can come after you've worked out how to get a basic web page onto your website.

The easiest way is to use HTML Editors like Komposer or CoffeeCup. (I personally use these to make my own website). They are free and can be easily downloaded from the internet. Such editors allow you to design your site without having to worry about the technical jargon. They are very easy to use and function like a word processing software.

Cross Browser Testing

Although you might have created an attractive and functional website, you cannot control which internet browsers will be used to view your site. As each browser performs differently it is necessary that you test your website in a multitude of browsers.

Thankfully, in most instances the variation from one browser to another will be negligible, but sometimes a particular browser could prevent visitors from being able to view and properly navigate your site. The only way to make sure that your website can be viewed correctly in different browsers is thorough testing.
Internet Browsers like Explorer, Netscape and Mozilla Firefox can easily be installed on your PC to test your web pages.

Besieged by international sanctions over the Iranian nuclear program including a planned oil embargo by Europe, Iran warned six European buyers on Wednesday that it might strike first by immediately cutting them off from Iranian oil.

Iran’s official Islamic Republic News Agency said the threat was conveyed to the ambassadors of Italy, Spain, France, the Netherlands, Greece and Portugal in separate meetings at the Foreign Ministry in Tehran. Officials said in an earlier report by Press TV, Iran’s state-financed satellite broadcaster, that Iran had already cut supplies to the six countries was inaccurate — but not before word of the Press TV report sent a brief shudder through the global oil market, sending prices up slightly.

“Iran warns Europe it will find other customers for its oil,” the Islamic Republic News Agency said. “European people should know that if Iran changes destinations of the oil it gives to them, the responsibility will rest with the European governments themselves.”

Last month the European Union decided to impose an oil embargo on Iran as of July 1 as part of a coordinated campaign of Western sanctions aimed at pressuring Iran to halt its disputed uranium enrichment program, and the Europeans have been making arrangements since then to find other sources. Will China come to the EU's rescue?

Posted by Kitara Julian On 8:35 PM 0 comments
(CNN) -- A China-EU summit ended Tuesday with promises for more support from Beijing for debt-straddled Europe, yet no concrete cash pledges to buy euro debt.

It's becoming a familiar scenario in the wake of the eurozone crisis. Indebted nations have made repeated entreaties to Chinese leaders for bail out help in the form of buying government debt bonds or direct investment. And, indeed, Beijing has pledged to help, and Chinese investment in European companies has skyrocketed.

Still, Beijing bristles at accepting the "white knight" role European leaders clearly hope China will play.

In a joint press conference with European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso and European Council President Herman Van Rompuy, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao said, "China is firm in supporting the EU side in dealing with the debt problems. We match our words with actions."

However, Wen added that it was up to debt-stricken nations -- such as Greece, which approved tough budget cuts ordered by the EU amid escalating violence in Athens -- and the EU to reduce its debt risks, echoing previous statements from China during the crisis. "The debt crisis relies fundamentally on the efforts made by the EU itself," Wen said. Read More
